An Exhibition during Milan Design Week 2024 at Dropcity showing a new approach to traditional woodworking techniques for timber framing with the usage of salvaged wood collected after heavy storms by the City of Milan.

Design Studio Studio Streev has developed a wooden truss structure for one of the tunnels under Milan Central Station, made by using a self-developed CNC machine which manufactures complex joints that enable smart construction and increase material yield.

A partnership between Muthesius University and Studio Streev,
in collaboration with Dropcity

Curated by: Martin Postler & Benjamin Unterluggauer

  • Max Boll (Studio Streev) setting up the CNC

  • Milled parts for the truss structure

  • The finished arch segment

  • Each arch spans a distance of 12 meters and is roughly 5 1/2 meters high

  • A view of the workshop with Streev's CNC inside

  • The scenography shows a process from raw material - Milan storm-cut wood, to finished product product - the wooden arches
